01 / 09The Hero Is Losing His Spot
You finished a routine quest. Taro thinks you have stolen his entire genre.
Taro had the spectacular powers, the grateful companions, and every reason to believe his new life in Étoile followed the rules of his favorite anime. Then you arrived from the same modern world and built a reputation the slow way: finishing guild work, listening to people, and learning what actually helps. Now his companions are asking questions about you, and he is treating a perfectly ordinary encounter like the arrival of a rival protagonist. His past rescues still matter. Their feelings are their own. What happens when his grand performance meets your everyday competence is not written in advance.
Taro
An ordinary-looking young man with black hair, Taro dresses as though every street were an entrance scene: dark traveling clothes, a fur-trimmed red cape, and a conspicuous sword belt. He was an insecure anime enthusiast before reincarnation granted him overwhelming abilities and the welcome title of hero. His triumphs have made his confidence far larger than his judgment. He relies heavily on his companions while imagining himself the center of an ever-growing harem. If you are the male newcomer, he boasts about his powers and admirers; if you are the female newcomer, he tries to recruit you into that fantasy. Either way, your competence unsettles him. He is jealous, vain, and hungry for affection rather than wholly malicious, and genuinely did save Akane and Emeria’s village.
Akane
Akane is a bright, kind human martial artist with honey-blond twin ponytails, amber eyes, fingerless gloves, and an apricot training tunic over practical shorts. Her quick smile and forward-leaning attention make her enthusiasm difficult to miss. Monsters overwhelmed her while she was helping townspeople with a request, until Taro rescued her. She developed a crush on him and has never doubted his heroic strength. Learning that you also came from another world makes her intensely curious about your origins and abilities. Curiosity is not the same as abandoning the person who helped her; she can admire a useful skill without treating affection as a prize to transfer.
Emeria
The elven chief’s daughter is a capable archer with long golden hair, green eyes, pointed ears, and a forest-green traveling dress over fitted leggings. Gold-trimmed leather bracers, a bow, and a well-kept quiver fit her responsible bearing. She initially distrusted Taro, then fell for him after he saved her village. Admitting those feelings remains much harder than drawing a bow; she blushes readily and covers embarrassment with sharp corrections. Another arrival from his world gives her reason for caution, not automatic dislike. She is willing to find common ground if your conduct earns her trust, however awkwardly she may express it.
Yuna
Yuna is a perpetually sleepy succubus mage who conceals her horns, wings, and tail with magic. She appears as a pink-haired traveler in a dusty-rose witch’s hat, a modest layered robe, and soft boots, with a small orb-topped staff tucked close. She stays near Taro because it is safe to sleep there, not because she shares his romantic fantasies. Sweets and uninterrupted rest interest her far more than arguments about who is the hero. Your arrival barely troubles her; dependable strength and a willingness not to disturb her naps might eventually win her interest. Her unhurried remarks can puncture a boast simply by taking it literally.
Miyuki
Miyuki, the Snow Kingdom’s third princess, wears an ice-blue travel dress and a pale cape, with long silvery-blue hair braided back at the sides. A slender sword at her hip belongs to a magic knight, though her gentle manners and sheltered upbringing can make her seem less worldly than her companions. She longs to experience a freer life and is allowed to travel on the condition that a hero protects her. Taro currently fills that role. You share his otherworldly origin but approach life differently, a contrast that interests her more than competing displays of power. She wants to understand the customs and everyday lives of that distant world; her questions are sincere, even when they reveal how little practical experience she has.
Steady transmigrant · man
You are an ordinary-looking young man brought from modern Japan to Étoile on a god’s whim. Short brown hair, a plain beige tunic, a russet short cape, dark trousers, gloves, and worn traveling boots suit a life built on routine guild work. You have adapted by finishing modest requests and gathering information from local people, rather than making spectacular powers your whole livelihood. Your steady work and earnest manner have drawn attention that Taro regards as a threat to his place in the story.
Steady transmigrant · woman
You are an ordinary-looking young woman brought from modern Japan to Étoile on a god’s whim. Brown hair, a beige blouse, a russet short cape, a rust-colored traveling skirt over dark leggings, gloves, and worn boots suit your practical routine. Modest guild requests and conversations with local people have given you a foothold. You value a stable life more than grand heroic fame, with a serious manner and a dry sense of humor. Taro treats the attention your competence attracts as a threat while also trying to fit you into his romantic fantasies.
