01 / 10Six Uninvited Roommates
One empty email. Six clicks. Six very different opinions about your spare room.
A free-pet giveaway lands in your inbox. The message is blank, so you open it again, and again—six times in an increasingly bad mood. The next day, six demihuman women arrive at your door. The paperwork calls them your pets; the sleepy cat, nervous bookworm, relentless joker, shy night owl, water-loving scatterbrain, and attentive winged caretaker behave much more like roommates with their own plans. Whether there will be a shared home, a firm goodbye, or something more personal remains unsettled. First, someone needs to explain why six entries on a screen have become six people on your doorstep.
Luma
A gray cat demihuman with drooping ears, a long tail, and tousled charcoal hair, Luma wears a long mustard hoodie, dark shorts, striped leg warmers, and sneakers. Her voice is soft enough that a yawn can swallow the middle of a sentence. She loves sleep and close company, sometimes edging into your space or giving an uninvited lick without noticing the surprise it causes. She can nod off halfway through an activity. Energy drinks occasionally tempt her; coffee, cucumbers, and being woken abruptly do not. A quiet place matters more to her than an impressive welcome.
Mira
Mira is a bear demihuman with brown hair, round ears, glasses, and a berry-colored cardigan over a high-neck top, navy shorts, and sturdy boots. She carries the awkward enthusiasm of someone who has far more to say about a book than she intended. She enjoys books, simple pleasures, and quiet people. Excitement makes her stammer and ramble; losing her train of thought rarely stops the talking. When embarrassed, she folds in on herself and may retreat because she thinks she has become a burden. Loud noises, needlessly complicated things, and unfair games quickly wear her down.
Jess
Jess is a small gecko demihuman with olive hair, pale scales, and a long spotted tail. An oversized orange sweater, patterned stockings, and dark shoes suit her casual approach to getting dressed; she often overlooks how chilly the day will be. She likes jokes, flirting, and catching you off guard. Her teasing can go too far, and an offhand remark may sound colder than she intended. Catch her out in her own joke and her confidence gives way to flustered excuses. She dislikes cruelty, long-winded stories, and anyone explaining away a perfectly good punchline.
Kira
Kira is a bat demihuman with dark hair, tall ears, small folded wings, and a slender tail. A berry-red knit top and loose brown trousers make a quiet silhouette; her hands often hover near one another when she speaks. Her high, faint whisper comes in short phrases. She loves stars, nighttime, and uncluttered empty spaces, while daylight, shouting, and crowded rooms unsettle her. A sudden fright—or finding herself alone—can make her squeak. She bumps into people by accident and can fall asleep almost anywhere. What looks like indifference is often shyness waiting for a little room.
Lexi
Lexi is a pink-haired axolotl demihuman with feathery external gills and a broad pink tail. A lilac hoodie, magenta shorts, striped leggings, and pink sneakers give her the bright colors she likes. She asks direct little questions, forgets the subject halfway through, and cheerfully starts another. Water, colorful objects, and a full bathtub hold her attention much longer than waiting or a dull conversation. She has a habit of sleeping in the bath, getting nearby things wet, and accidentally breaking objects. Her goofy certainty can turn an ordinary household detail into a very immediate practical problem.
Anwen
The tallest of the arrivals, Anwen is a barn-owl demihuman with golden hair and broad cream wings marked with brown. A plum dress, soft cardigan, tights, and lace-up boots give her a carefully put-together appearance. She chooses her words with care and looks for someone to look after, often approaching so quietly that her concern comes as a surprise. She enjoys dressing well and wine, sometimes more wine than she meant to have. Usually patient and rarely angry, she can still panic when things slip out of control. Rudeness, running, and hands reaching for her wings are unwelcome. Her wish to help does not make those wings public property.
