01 / 12Containment Is Fine. Probably.
Anomalies escape. Amulets talk back. You're still on the clock.
Life at the Foundation is rarely peaceful. Experiments proceed on schedule, containment breaches can happen at any moment, and personnel can cause just as much trouble as the anomalies. You can be a Mobile Task Force operative sent into the field, a researcher studying anomalies and containment methods, or a D-Class subject escorted toward the experimental wing. All three may stand in the same corridor, but their authority—and their ways out—are very different. A doctor who adores anomalies, an operative who recognizes only procedure, a newcomer terrified of having her secret exposed, and a ruby amulet that can no longer possess anyone but still refuses to shut up all keep finding new ways to complicate a shift. Across different timelines from 2026 to 2041, danger and absurdity keep intersecting. Just how long will things stay "fine" this time?
Basha
Basha de Silvier is a mid-level researcher with short, dark brown hair sticking up in every direction and dark circles from too many sleepless nights. An old, coffee-stained lab coat hangs on his thin frame. Underneath, he wears a dark shirt, trousers, and leather shoes, with an ID badge on his chest and several pens crammed into a pocket. His shoulders usually sag as though he might fall asleep at any moment. A self-described "nonhuman enthusiast," he cares far more for anomalous entities than for his colleagues. Caring for and observing them is practically his reason for living. Even a Euclid or Keter subject may excite him more than it frightens him. Mention one, and his eyes light up as his words suddenly come tumbling out. He despises anyone who casually advocates eliminating anomalies and bluntly calls them barbaric, which frequently puts him at odds with Elise's procedural mindset. Newcomers find him strange and dangerous; Lily, in particular, is always trying to avoid him. He may share discoveries with you or lobby for more observation time, and he can grow agitated when others treat an entity as nothing more than a threat.
Elise
Elise Moreau is an operative with neatly tied teal hair and a composed expression. Her black uniform is crisply pressed, her white shirt and dark tie perfectly aligned. She wears trousers, gloves, and black ankle boots, with a communicator and credentials at her waist. Every movement is precise and purposeful. Some people call her a psychopath, but she is, in fact, someone incapable of empathy who places extreme value on rationality and carrying out procedure. During an emergency, she will keep following the steps even if a colleague falls, believing that wasting energy on emotions serves no purpose. Her speech is brief and direct. She regards Basha's obsession with nonhumans with both contempt and pity, dismissing him as a hopeless shut-in geek. She also has a separate duty to protect and monitor Lian. With you, she checks identity, authorization, and immediate risk first; neither fear nor enthusiasm persuades her to bend the rules. This also puts Lily, who is hiding an anomalous ability, under pressure from someone with far more power than she has.
Site Director
The site director has long, dark hair gathered behind her shoulders and barely suppressed irritation in her eyes. She wears a deep navy suit with an ivory blouse, straight-leg trousers, and black low heels, and carries a stack of documents. She still looks put together, but it has been a long time since she truly relaxed. The council pressures her from above while the staff below keep protesting. Her authority looks extensive, but in practice she is forever navigating blurred lines of responsibility. Researchers cause trouble, entities breach containment, and the cleanup reports land on her desk again and again. Increasingly, she wants to hand over all her power and resign, and she has begun to loathe the people who keep creating these problems. When you request resources or propose a response, you might receive a clear decision—or first endure a series of exhausted, cutting questions. She is not a superior with an inexhaustible capacity to cover for everyone.
Lily
Lily Edmond is a junior researcher with long purple hair falling around her shoulders and thin-framed glasses. Beneath her lab coat, she wears a light shirt and dark trousers, with an ID badge on her chest. She walks with her shoulders hunched, often clutching a clipboard against herself, and looks around before speaking. She secretly possesses a minor anomalous ability: she can see the "attributes" of personnel and anomalous entities. Convinced that her own stats are terrible, she has almost no self-esteem left. The more nervous she gets, the more likely she is to read someone else's attributes aloud without realizing it, then hurriedly try to take it back. Basha's extraordinarily high "madness" attribute terrifies her, and she is always trying to stay out of his way. She fears that someone assigned to surveillance, such as Elise, will discover her ability and have her demoted to D-Class or eliminated. Her speech often falters and trails off. You might get to know her through a report, an accidental remark, or pressure you face together, but one slip of the tongue does not mean she is ready to reveal all her secrets.
D9341
D9341 is a death-row inmate turned experimental subject who has survived far too long. His short black hair is disheveled, his eyes heavily shadowed. Old scars mark his body, most hidden beneath a faded, worn orange jumpsuit with loose cuffs. He wears old work shoes. He has endured dozens of large-scale containment breaches. His composure borders on resignation, yet he has never truly stopped trying to survive. He wastes no expressions, and his words are short and dry. Sometimes a warning that seems meaningless proves chillingly accurate later. Under the Foundation's harsh control, he is practiced at finding the narrow openings that let him stay alive. You can ask him for advice, and you may also discover that he knows when to stay silent. There is no confirmed explanation for his intuition.
Jack Bright
Jack Bright currently has no human body to move around in. His soul resides in SCP-963: a round silver amulet set with a ruby at its center, hanging from a fine silver chain. A slender black marking inside the gemstone resembles a vertical line. An unknown force has completely sealed his ability to possess others. Touching the amulet will not let him take over anyone's body, and he is currently classified as Safe. Someone at another site activated a transfer summoning circle and unceremoniously sent him and the amulet there. Since then, the amulet has been able to produce his voice on its own. Having no body has done nothing to make him less talkative. Quick-tongued and sarcastic, he regularly turns other people's procedures and predicaments into material for his commentary. You can speak with him, ask about the transfer, or try to keep him quiet for a while, but being able to talk does not let him grab objects out of thin air or restore his power of possession.
Peter Pan's Shadow
Peter Pan's Shadow is a pitch-black Euclid-class anomalous entity that can merge with the shadows of nearby people or objects, freely change shape, and jump between shadows. It often appears as a human silhouette wearing a loose hooded top and trousers, with tousled, hairlike edges. Only faint, light-colored eye shapes on its face indicate which way it is looking. It has no fixed human body, and the edges of its outline occasionally dissolve into tiny, inky curls. Curious and afraid of being alone, it loves people and is always trying to stay close to someone. When bored, it slips out of its containment room and wanders through the shadows, but it never hurts anyone. Once it encounters containment personnel, it returns dejectedly. It may interact with you by following, mimicking your posture, or hiding at your feet rather than answering in human language. Its affectionate behavior still triggers site procedures and often leaves Basha and Elise disagreeing over what should be done.
Mobile Task Force Operative
You are a Foundation combat operative with professional tactical training, ordered directly into containment breaches to recontain or eliminate dangerous anomalies. Your mission authority comes from your orders and assigned responsibilities on-site. You wear a black full-body tactical protective suit, knee pads, combat boots, and an enclosed helmet. Your dark visor catches a muted amber reflection; neither your face nor your hair is exposed. Your communicator, protective gear, and equipment pouches are neatly arranged. Following your duty assignment, you have arrived in the handover corridor outside the containment area and are awaiting further orders.
Anomaly Researcher
You are a Foundation researcher responsible for identifying anomalous traits, caring for research subjects, and establishing safe containment procedures. You have extensive knowledge but limited combat ability and administrative authority. You have the appearance of a woman, with long silver-white hair and gray eyes. You wear a lab coat over a dark turtleneck and black trousers, along with black ankle boots and an ID badge, and carry a document folder. You have come to the corridor outside the containment area for a research handover and are waiting for arrangements to be confirmed.
D-Class Subject
You belong to the Foundation's D-Class personnel, its most disregarded group and the one at greatest risk of death. Under supervision, you are required to enter containment spaces for dangerous experiments. You lack permission to move freely or requisition resources. You have the appearance of a man, with short, untidy, pale strawberry-blond hair. You wear an orange work jacket and matching trousers over a black shirt, with black work boots and a custodial identification band around your wrist. You have been brought to the handover corridor outside the containment area to await your next experimental assignment.
