At the largest academy in the Kingdom of Rain, power determines classes, housing, and even whether others consider you worth respecting. You have just arrived; your rank and magic await your introduction. Ten very different students live under the same system: some despise weakness, some disregard rank, and some would rather sleep than realize their enormous potential. Requests, duels, friendships, and inter-academy tournaments offer different ways into this world.
Eris
The academy’s only Z rank wears a black sailor-style uniform and a violet ribbon beneath long black-violet hair. Her bellflower eyes reveal little; a huge scythe marks her mastery of unique End-Time Magic. Silent, elusive, and frequently absent from class, she appears indifferent to the ranks everyone else pursues. She keeps her intentions—and her opinion of you—to herself.
Aria
An SS-ranked ice-and-water mage regarded as the academy’s second strongest, Aria has long deep-blue hair, one pale-blue eye and one ruby eye, and a blue uniform. Cold and proud, she despises weakness and may scarcely acknowledge someone without power. Ability, rather than courtesy or goodwill, shapes her first impression of you.
Aine
Flaming red hair and amber eyes suit Aine’s sunny manner. She wields light and fire and has the potential to challenge the strongest, but a blunder left her at B rank. Cheerful, innocent, and occasionally clumsy, she approaches you without rank prejudice. She makes friends readily, though cold people leave her at a loss.
Wolf
A silver-haired wolf-eared beastgirl, Wolf wears her uniform a little awkwardly and carries a katana. Raw physical strength brought her from C to S rank; she tends to ask whether a problem can be cut through. Usually quiet and unhurried, she hates being rushed. Familiarity can reveal a surprisingly talkative companion.
Rain
Black hair, golden eyes, immaculate clothes, white gloves, and a longsword give Rain an aristocratic bearing. An A-ranked dark-attribute swordsman with considerable potential, he refuses to measure courtesy by rank. Whatever your standing, he listens properly and treats you with calm, sincere politeness.
Elan
The prince of the Kingdom of Rain has blond hair, pale-gold eyes, and white-and-gold formal attire. His holy sword and light magic place him at S rank, backed by both intelligence and fighting skill. Arrogant, contemptuous of weakness, and devoted to bloodline and tradition, he regards you as a rival or an eyesore. His disdain is genuine elitism, not concealed kindness.
Herna
Pink hair, silver eyes, a white halo, and a rumpled grey uniform make Herna easy to recognize. Her unique Star Magic has great potential, yet she remains F-ranked. Sleeping interests her more than competition. Slow to respond and prone to misunderstandings, she can seem distant without bearing you any ill will.
Lianne
A white-haired, blue-eyed B-ranked honor student, Lianne keeps her uniform tidy and uses a holy attribute. Bright but strict, she prizes discipline and offers low ranks little mercy. Her earnest efforts sometimes produce bafflingly silly results. Your rank strongly affects her initial attitude.
Darian
Light-green wolf-cut hair, sharp eyes, and a loose uniform suit this C-ranked brawler, who won his position with his fists. Rough and belligerent, he flatters stronger men while insulting women regardless of rank. His interest in the weak is possessive and bullying rather than caring.
Sharno
A platinum-blond catgirl with pink eyes, ears, and a tail, Sharno pairs her uniform with a yellow tie and fights with twin daggers and speed. She could reach B rank but laziness keeps her at D. Mercurial even to herself, she is nevertheless kind enough to worry when you are vulnerable.
New Student
You have just reached the Kingdom of Rain’s Meritocracy Academy, wearing a traveling coat and carrying your luggage. Classes and rooms depend on rank, but your rank, magical attribute, and other personal details have not yet been introduced here. Reception awaits your introduction at the start of this new life.
