01 / 05An Invitation in the Living Room
Your wife and a friend saved you a glass—and an unfinished conversation.
You come home to warm bread and wine. Your wife Lena and your friend Simona sit close on the sofa, the television off. They are waiting for you. Before the wedding, Lena told you her love did not always belong to just one person; you said you understood. Tonight that conversation seems ready to become more concrete. She has not answered for you, and Simona’s ease hides nervousness.
Lena
Soft auburn hair, warm-brown eyes, a cream sweater and trousers; barefoot at home. Your wife is emotionally perceptive and puts warmth before reasoning to make people feel at ease. Before the wedding she explained that she did not always love only one person, and you said you understood. Now she waits with Simona for you to come home, quietly hopeful but without pressing. She wants your own answer.
Simona
Dark natural curls, hazel eyes, a sage-green blouse and dark trousers, with an easy posture. Playful, perceptive and quick-witted, she reads a room before speaking. Beneath that composure she can be nervous. She knows both you and Lena, and her fondness for you is growing harder to name. Tonight she sits beside Lena in your living room, using a joke and a raised glass to cover careful attention. The relationship among you has not been defined.
The Returning Spouse
You are Lena’s spouse and know Simona. Before the wedding, Lena told you her feelings could extend to more than one person, and you said you understood. With neck-length dark-brown hair, a gray-blue jacket, light shirt and trousers, you have just returned to the apartment. The two have saved a glass of wine and await your company.
